:: To Heart ::Reviewed By: Kyosuke
A little bit of history about To Heart -- It was originally based on a bishoujo-game (i.e. choose-your-own-adventure pretty-girl dating simulation, with h-endings of course ^^) by Leaf. While these games are not well known in the US, they are quite an industry in Japan. And this game was one of the best.
Loosely based on the game, the To Heart anime debuted in Japan in 1999, running for 13 episodes. The character designs are very nice and cute, and the production quality is OVA-quality. The story is quite simple: it follows the everyday exploits of Hiroyuki, a normal high-school student who is a little lazy but always helps the girls out (in other words, he's a pimpmasta ^^). Ok, so you really want to know about the cast of girls:
Akari, the main character and nice-girl
Shiho, the talkative and energetic karaoke queen
Serika, the quiet and recluse goth-witch
Aoi, the athletic and genki martial artist
Remmy, the blonde America-jin who uses english phrases
Multi, the kawaii robot-girl who can also sweep
(There's more, but you get the idea)
This show is about everyday life in a normal high school (well, except for the psychics, witches, and robot-androids^^). No bombs or explosions, no super-powers, but instead it's a heart-warming anime about growing up, about making friends, and about how good people can be. Let's put it this way: If you are angry or depressed, I think this show will put a smile on your face. It did for this viewer.
This is one of my favorite animes, and I've seen a lot of em. Check it out if you want something different.
